Now that I’m out of my reading slump, I’m hoping to use this space for a little accountability to keep me reading. As such, here are the books I’m hoping to read and review this month:
1. A Madness of Sunshine by Nalini Singh
I picked this up in the romance section at the library. I was really looking for a nice contemporary romance but instead I found the story of a woman who returns to her hometown fifteen years after her sister’s murder. Not exactly the easy breezy story I was anticipating, but the blurb hooked me.
2. The Monogram Murders by Sophie Hannah
Poirot is not my favorite of Christie’s detectives, but I picked up The Mystery of Three Quarters recently (review to come!) and highly enjoyed it. So, I figured I’d given the Belgian another chance to win me over.
3. Dial A for Aunties by Jesse Q. Sutanto
I read a review recently (if I remember where I’ll link their blog!) that said that this book was Crazy Rich Asians plus mystery. That’s all I needed. It’s coming by interlibrary loan, so we’ll see if it arrives in time.
4. North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell
I’ve watched this miniseries on Netflix about a dozen times. It’s the best parts of Pride and Prejudice mixed with social justice and a badass heroine. I’m hoping the book is just as good.
5. 56 Days by Catherine Ryan Howard
This was my Book of the Month subscription selection this month. It’s the first of what I assume will be many books set during the pandemic. But a girl and her new boyfriend decide to quarantine together and then one (or maybe both?) of them ends up dead.
What’s on your TBR list this month? Any books you want me to read? Let me know in the comments!
Stay safe!
