Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty
A friend recommended this book to me last year after we had both watched the HBO adaptation. I had put off reading until recently because it seemed like the perfect book to take with me on vacation.
For starters, having watched the series there wasn’t much suspense as to what exactly had happened. However, the book and show are so different you could forget that they were even related. (Similar in some respects to reading the Sookie Stackhouse books and then watching True Blood.)
I enjoyed the book though it wasn’t groundbreaking. As I suspected, it was the perfect book for sitting all day in airports. There are aspects of it that I truly preferred over the series; things that get explored more deeply in the book. If you are a fan of the HBO series, I would definitely recommend checking the book out.
I’d give this 3/5 stars. It was good and I’m glad I read it, but it wasn’t anything spectacular or earth shattering.
